Exists to protect the public interest and it continually monitors its members as to their fitness to practise.

The British Herbal Medicine Association was founded in 1964 to advance the science and practice of herbal medicine in the United Kingdom. It promotes the use of herbal medicinal products manufactured to pharmaceutical standards

Established in 1864 it :

Maintains a Register of individual members.
Provides codes of conduct, ethics and practise.
Operates complaints and disciplinary procedures.
Checks that all NIMH Members have professional indemnity, public liability and medical malpractice insurance.
